All videos - The Seventh day 1, 2, 3, 4 Jim Arrabito- LLT productions: Why are most christians keeping sunday when the Bible says that the sabbath is the real day of worship? Did Jesus keep the sabbath all his life? Yes
Luke 4;16 'And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.'
Did all the apostles keep the sabbath all their lives? Yes
Acts 18:3,4 'And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers. And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.'
Jesus even prophecied that 40 years after his death all christians in Jerusalem would be still keeping the Sabbath:
Matthiew 24;20 'But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:'
'But my preacher said that we are not to keep the 10 Commandments anymore!' When Paul says we re not under the Law he meant that we are not under the condemnation of the Law. Jews who believed in Jesus did not have to bring a lamb for sacrifice everytime they sinned anymore. They only had to repent and ask God for forgiveness.
Was breaking the 10 Commandments bad 5 mn before Jesus dies and then 5 minutes after Jesus died it was ok to break the ten commandments? No. Is is still wrong to kill, steal, commit adultery? Yes. Then christians still have to keep the ten commandments.
What is very important to know is that we are saved just by believing in Jesus. There are no works involved in the justification process. By knowing who Jesus is and his love for you personally you accept Jesus and you receive eternal life. Now as a christian you show your love to God by obedience. 'Mom i love you so' 'Ok can you go grocery shopping for me' 'No mom i do not love you that much' Keeping the 10 Commandments is to show our love to God, no one is saved by keeping the 10 Commandments. But no one can say that love God and not obey Him. The Bible teaches that the Sabbath is the real day of worship. Are you going to continue following sunday which is the Precept from the papacy? Or are you going to follow Jesus and the sabbath!
This very important question demands a close study of all the Bible texts about the sabbath and sunday!
'Who then changed the sabbath to sunday if all christians all over the workd kept the sabbath until the 3rs century?'
The emperor Constantine changed the sabbath to sunday, yet the Bible never changed and prophecied that soneone would change the sabbath:
Daniel 7:25 'And he shall speak great
words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most
High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into
his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.'
What does the verse sabbath days mean in
Colossians 2;16,17 'Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.' If we take tho whole context of the chapter we find that it is not talking about the sabbath, but the Levitical law. The levitical which was pointing to Jesus on the cross died on the cross also with Jesus. Do the 10 Commandments point to Jesus? No
Colossians 2:14 'Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.' The handwriting of ordinances is the levitical law which said that animals had to be killed everytime someone sinned ect...All the which ended at the cross. But the 10 Commandments are forever. The sabbath days refer to yearly sabbath days which have nothing to do with the weekly sabbath day.
Leveticus 23: 24 'Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.' Yearly sabbath days which were to be kept besides the real weekly sabbath day:
Leveticus 23:38 'Beside the sabbaths of the Lord, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the Lord.'
Does the Catholic Church acknowledge the change of thesabbath being non biblical and only through her own power? Yes:
James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers, 88th ed., pp. 89.
“But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify.”
Stephen Keenan, A Doctrinal Catechism 3rd ed., p. 174.
“Question: Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept?
“Answer: Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her-she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority.”
John Laux, A Course in Religion for Catholic High Schools and Academies (1936), vol. 1, P. 51.
“Some theologians have held that God likewise directly determined the Sunday as the day of worship in the New Law, that He Himself has explicitly substituted the Sunday for the Sabbath. But this theory is now entirely abandoned. It is now commonly held that God simply gave His Church the power to set aside whatever day or days she would deem suitable as Holy Days. The Church chose Sunday, the first day of the week, and in the course of time added other days as holy days.”
Daniel Ferres, ed., Manual of Christian Doctrine (1916), p.67.
“Question: How prove you that the Church hath power to command feasts and holy days?”
“Answer: By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of, and therefore they fondly contradict themselves, by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feasts commanded by the same Church.”
James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore (1877-1921), in a signed letter.
“Is Saturday the seventh day according to the Bible and the Ten Commandments? I answer YES. Is Sunday the first day of the week and did the Church change the seventh day —Saturday — for Sunday, the first day? I answer YES. Did Christ change the day? I answer NO.
Faithfully yours, J. Card. Gibbons;”
The Catholic Mirror, official publication of James Cardinal Gibbons, Sept. 23, 1893.
“The Catholic Church, . . . by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday.”
Catholic Virginian Oct. 3, 1947, p. 9, art. “To Tell You the Truth.”
“For example, nowhere in the Bible do we find that Christ or the Apostles ordered that the Sabbath be changed from Saturday to Sunday. We have the commandment of God given to Moses to keep holy the Sabbath day, that is the 7th day of the week, Saturday. Today most Christians keep Sunday because it has been revealed to us by the[Roman Catholic] church outside the Bible.”
Part five of ' The seventh day' documentary talks about Sabbath keepers persecutions in early north America including the founders, Von zinzerdorf in East Europe, the seventh day men in England! Continuing the story of Jim Arrabito's tragic death from the other parts of The seventh day: In 1977 I moved to Fort Bragg and began painting wildlife for a gallery as their "guest artist." However, the real longing of my heart was to be involved in soul-winning, so while doing artwork for a living (a real faith-building experience, since it was "feast or famine" most of the time,) I began to prepare Bible studies using slides. I traveled to Europe to collect pictures from cathedrals and museums on the subjects historically significant in Revelation. famous prophecies, prophecy seminar, book of revelation online,
Pastor Michaelson invited me to share these studies in his church in Upper Lake one weekend in 1980. Elder Glen Woodard, of Lakeport attended and invited me to put on a 10-program series at his church. (the john sabbath, the christian sabbath, the holy sabbath) We met a young man at these meetings who told us of his education for the Catholic priesthood, of how he'd left this behind and had been studying to find Truth ever since. He was thrilled with the truth he found at these meetings. Pastor Lloyd Munson, of the El Sobrante Church invited us to hold a week of meetings in his church that spring, and Elder Stanley West, of Miranda, invited us to hold a 6-week series of 24 programs for his community. famous prophecies, prophecy seminar, book of revelation online,
We were tempted to say "no," as we looked at our own limitations, but were continually impressed that "God's biddings are His enablings." God blessed these humble meetings, and we made many close friends among the church members as well as among those who came to the meetings and were baptized. Many folks in the Miranda area are involved in the occult, and we found that the unique understanding of the inroads of spiritualism which we as Adventists have, gave us a way to reach them.
About this time I began to do artwork for Educational Felt Aids, painting their 3-year Bible story set which is used for the Sabbath School lessons, as well as many other sets. In the fall of 1980 the Fort Bragg Church arranged for a 4-week series after which 11 people were baptized and the church members drew together in a real special closeness. In January of 1981 Elder Glen Woodard hired me to do Bible work for the Lakeport Church. famous prophecies, prophecy seminar, book of revelation online,
By early summer church funds were low and invitations were coming in for me to share the slide studies, so I left Lakeport. During the summer of 1981 the Lord made it possible for me to travel to Europe again to collect more pictures for my studies, and in the fall I held a 4-week series in Lower Lake as well as a 6-week series for the Groveland Church with Pastor Jeff Wolff. After this, I held a week-long series in the Mt. Shasta Church January of 1982 found us in Ojai to do a month-long series for Pastor Louis Davis. famous prophecies, prophecy seminar, book of revelation online,
We met several members of a motorcycle gang there at the meetings and two of them were baptized soon after. Early in the summer I traveled to England to share some of my studies in a church, then again in the Fall I .visited the British Museum in London, the Waldense Valleys in Italy, and several other places in Europe to gather additional evidences for my slide programs on the History of the Jesuits , 666 and the Mark, and the History of the Christian Church, called The Church in the Wilderness.
In 1983 I was hired as the Angwin Village Company Bible worker While sharing some studies at the Ontario SDA Church with Pastor Wolters, I met Carl Branster from Australia, who was working with Elder Kenneth Cox to produce video evangelistic programs for Australia. Brother Branster invited me to share the studies on video, which he distributed in Australia and New Zealand.
