Audio-bible - 1CO audio bible - As the Apostle Paul continnued on his travels many riots took place. Paul could have done like Johah and go get a ticket to Tarshish and escape, but it is the Jesus in Paul, the love in his eyes, the love emanating from his body, the gentle tone of voice, and the mighty works that was a constant rebuke to the people around him!
This is the same in your life friend! If you have Jesus in you, then the Jesus in you will make people love you or hate you! This sacrifice pepople see in you, the reality of what it means to be a christian repulses some people so strongly that they take the descision to hate you! If many people at the time of Jesus did not love him, then it happens in the life of Jesu' followers also! Jesus did not do anything wrong to receive this treatment!
We could understand if Jesus had manipulated some pharisees, or if Jesus had beatten some saduces and killed some! We would understand if Jesus would have called legions of angels and kicked Caiaphas the high priest out to take his place. We would understand people's agner against him if Jesus had lied to them! But this was not the case. People's anger was non founded. And because there was no reason to be angy with Jesus, they found reasons, and made up things that were not true!
Friend this will happen to you also if you are a follower of Jesus. For no apparent reason at all, even if all you want for some people is love, and kindness, and helping them in all the ways you can. They have decided in their hearts that they will not love the Jesus in you! That the cross they see you bearing is too much for them, and each time they see you, you remind them of this cross and their conscience is pricked and they hate you for no reason!
'1CO 7And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. 8For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: 9But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
10Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us; 11Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf. 12For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. 13For we write none other things unto you, that what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end; 14As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are our's in the day of the Lord Jesus. onlinebible, biblegateway audio bible, audio bible gateway,
15And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit; 16And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea. 17When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay? 18But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. 19For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. onlinebible, biblegateway audio bible, audio bible gateway,
20For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. 21Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 23Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.
24Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand. ' From chapter one to chapter thirteen the second book of chorintians talks about: Past difficulties, the ministry of the new covenant, glory and humiliation, the eternal dweling, the ministry of reconciliation, separation from evil, the chorintians repentence, example of the churches in Macedonia, call to giving, promises to those who give, the apostle authority, Paul and false teachers, Paul's visions and revelations, warnings.
