Before the the book of Joshua, we have the story of the 12 spies to the land of Cnaan. The book talks about the amazing story of sending the 12 spies in the mand of Canaan. When the children of Israel fled Egypt and were in the desret, after 40 years they finally arrived in Canaan. God told them that they could take the cities and the country because God had given it to them. They choose to see then land and send 12 spies to give them a report about the mand of Cnaan and to see whether the people there were strong or few, and the land plentiful. But some of the spies got scared in the land of Canaan and said that there were giants and that they could not take the land. In their minds their thoughts dwelt on the negative aspect of the land and they did not see that God's power could take the land and that God was stronger than the giants! Most of out battles ar ein out minds, when we approach something to be done, like a job interview, a move, a business or anyother thing out thoughts make all the difference. If we have faith in God, God will use that faith and bring us the salvation of the Lord! The whole nation of Israel in tents wept all night and got very scared! Joshua and Caleb were the only two spies that gave a good report, and talked to the people saying that the land was plentiful and that God could bring them in the land, and that with the help of the Lord they will take possesion of the land! Joshua had faith in God despite everyone around him having no faith and disbelieving God! Joshua knew that if they would try to take the land and were unsuccessful he could have been stoned, but he choose to believe God, and it was counted him to righteousness. Joshua later on became the leader of Israel. Sometimes people ask why some people are in leadership position, they don't seem to have much skill, or they don't seem to knwo much about the job situation. But God sees the heart and faith in God is one of the biggest requirement to reveive favour from the Lord with humility!
