Church - Doug Batchelor - Can you trust the Bible? Many people say that the Bibl is a book of fables nd old stories which are not viable now in the 21st century. But the Bible says that someone's opinion is not important, what counts is proof. Some other people see apparent contradictions ins the Bible, so they say, 'Well the Bible is not tue because i saw some contradiction in the Bible'
This shows that there are two groups on the Earth, 1) Those who judge after what they see and afteir their own intelligence 2) Those who know that most knowledge is still unknown and it is not because something 'seems' not logical that it is not so.
The so called contradictions in the Bible means that the persons has to look further in the BIble to find the answers. God is very wise and reading the Bible some people have wrest the Scriptures to their own destruction. For exemple. I see someone with a bicicle falling in a car and smashing the windshield. I can come to the conclusion that the man on the bicycle fell into the car and is guilty.
Then some other witnesses come and explain the whole story. The car drove into the street, they ran over the bicycle from bahind, and the shock of the accident made the bicycle to fall on the windshield and break it. If i take only the 1st information then i would come to one conclusion. If i have all information i would come to the 2nd conclusion. Reading the Bible is the same thing. If you take a subject, all texts on the subject need to be read so you can come to a right conclusion.
Some people take the slavery issue in the Bible to say the Bible is not true. Yes there is defenitrly slavery in the Bible. But the person saying that is just judging from a 21st century point of view. When Americans for exemple go to Irak for war, they have slaves or 'prisoners' In fact bringing someone to be a slave instead of having him be in jail is more merciful!
